Finding the Viable Option in a Constrained Market
Graebel, a global relocation management company trusted with complex, high-stakes mobility programmes, was supporting two assignees working at a strategically critical energy facility in western Slovakia. The assignment required high-quality accommodation close to the site in or around Nitra - a location with very limited corporate housing supply and few operators familiar with international relocation standards.

Time pressure added further complexity. The initial request allowed only a short lead-time, and although the move was later paused and resumed due to visa delays, availability in the local market had changed. When the search restarted, Graebel needed confidence that suitable accommodation could still be delivered quickly, safely, and without introducing risk to the wider project.
Beyond location and timing, Graebel required reassurance that accommodation would meet international health, safety and security expectations, even where local regulations were less prescriptive. With assignee wellbeing, duty of care and operational continuity at stake, this was not a market where compromise was an option.
Applying the highest standards, going beyond local conventions
SilverDoor immediately mobilised its Acquisitions Team to conduct a focused location search, prioritising quality, proximity and compliance over volume. Despite reaching out across the market, it became clear that only one local supplier could deliver apartments that met Graebel’s standards - a reflection of just how constrained the market was.
Addressing Issues Before They Become Problems
Rather than lowering requirements, we applied its Global Safety and Quality Standards in full. This included comprehensive HSSE checks, detailed pre-arrival inspection forms, and photographic verification of each apartment to give Graebel clear visibility and confidence ahead of arrival.
During due diligence, we identified that the local operator was not obligated under their licence to hold third-party insurance - a potential risk for an international relocation. We addressed this proactively, working with the supplier to put insurance cover in place as a condition of booking, ensuring Graebel’s duty of care obligations were fully protected despite the absence of a local mandate.
Delivering a Ready-to-Live Solution, Not Just an Address
By leveraging established supplier relationships and hands-on acquisitions expertise, we secured two fully furnished apartments at cost-effective monthly rates. Utilities, internet connectivity and readiness for immediate occupancy were all confirmed in advance, removing friction for both Graebel and the assignees.
A Practical Solution to a Difficult Location
We delivered two compliant, fully prepared apartments close to the energy facility, ensuring assignees could begin work without disruption. While this was a challenging market, the solution offered strong value, delivering nightly savings compared to short-stay alternatives and avoiding the premium typically associated with nearby major cities.
Just as importantly, the project delivered zero issues post-arrival - no cases, no escalations and no impact on productivity. For Graebel, this reinforced confidence that even in remote or tertiary locations, accommodation risks could be effectively mitigated through the right partner.
The assignment strengthened Graebel’s ability to reassure its own clients that location would never be a limiting factor. Our willingness to go beyond its existing portfolio, enforce international standards where local regulation fell short, and resolve compliance obstacles before they became problems demonstrated a partnership built on attention to detail, responsiveness and practical problem-solving.
For the end client, the outcome was simple but critical: safe, reliable accommodation that supported assignee wellbeing and protected project continuity. For Graebel, it was further proof that complex relocations can be delivered smoothly - even when the market offers very little room for error.
