SilverDoor Opens Shanghai Office to Meet Growing Demand in China

We are delighted to announce the opening of our first dedicated office in Shanghai, China. Located at Raffles City in the heart of the city's central business district, the new office marks a significant milestone for SilverDoor, and a natural response to a market that has been growing fast.

Our own data reflects the scale of that growth: searches for serviced apartments across China were up 83% year on year last quarter, and that interest is translating into real intent, with reservations nearly doubling even against a backdrop of restricted availability. Demand is running in both directions, with international businesses bringing people into China and Chinese enterprises expanding globally, both requiring high-quality, compliant, managed accommodation for their people on the move. For a deeper look at the trends shaping the region, read our APAC analysis in the May 2026 Market Update.

Building on a Foundation

SilverDoor has operated in China since 2017. In that time, we have built a property partner network across the country's key business cities, established strong relationships with local and international clients, and become one of the first serviced apartment providers to offer local Chinese invoicing capability, a practical requirement that matters enormously for businesses managing compliant procurement in-market.

The new Shanghai office brings our team physically into the market we have spent nearly a decade learning.

Meet the Shanghai Team

The Shanghai team is led by Hana Huang and James Wills, both of whom bring extensive knowledge and experience of the Shanghai - and wider Chinese - market.

Hana Huang, Supply Chain Manager, APAC, has been central to SilverDoor's China operation since 2022 and brings over a decade of experience in Shanghai's corporate mobility and real estate sector. Her background, spanning roles at Cartus and Cresa Asia, means she understands the local supply chain, client expectations, and regulatory environment in a way that directly benefits the clients we serve here.

James Wills, Senior Client Services Consultant, is both a returning SilverDoor colleague and a returning Shanghai resident. Having spent more than five years living and working in the city, James brings firsthand knowledge of how business operates here, alongside a thorough understanding of SilverDoor as a business. As our first dedicated client-facing hire in China, he will be the primary point of contact for clients and property partners across the region.

The Shanghai office is the first new office to open under the fully integrated SilverDoor business since our merger with Synergy Global Housing in 2025, and it reflects where the business is headed. With 15 offices across four continents and clients in 143 countries, China is a market we are committed to for the long term.

Hear from Stuart Winstone, Chief Executive Officer, as he reflects on the milestone…

We’ve been operating in China for a number of years and in that time, have built real knowledge of this market, genuine relationships with supply chain partners, and a track record of delivering for clients here. This office is the natural next step, at a moment when demand is accelerating and interest in this region is growing. For clients with people moving into or out of China, having a team on the ground who genuinely knows this market makes a real difference.”
