Harrisburg is the capital city of Pennsylvania and the county seat of Dauphin County. The city is the 15th largest in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at an estimated population of more than 570,000 which also makes it the 96th most populous city in the United States. Nestled on the banks of the Susquehanna River, Harrisburg is the centre of the Susquehanna Valley. The city is situated in a prime position with fantastic trade routes. Many businesses in the last few years have moved to the area to take advantage of the trade routes. As a result, business travel to the area and the demand for corporate housing has increased. Harrisburg is the centre for around 400 different communities and its economy reflects this, with the city being diverse and large representations of many service-related industries are located within the city. Numerous national firms are located within the area and the city itself including Hershey Foods, Harsco Corporations, and Tyco Electronics. However, the government is the main employer in the area with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employing over 20,000 people and the US Federal government employing just over 18,000. Business travel to Harrisburg is mainly dominated by government business, but in recent years the popularity of Harrisburg has encouraged more corporate stays in the area.

Harrisburg dates back to 3000 BC,  and is thought to have been inhabited by Native Americans. Its strategic position gave it an advantage in many ways, including trade, the westward expansion, and transit. It is partly due to its position that Harrisburg became the state capital in 1812. Harrisburg was originally a trading post, and, in the latter half of the 19th century, became better known for its steel industry.  The city was the hub of major railway traffic with the steel industry taking on the role of supporting large furnaces, rolling mills, and machinery.

The industrial decline came about during the beginning of the 20th century when the population shifted from the centre of the city to the suburbs. Harrisburg felt the change but made the move to create a more serviced based industry where once the steel furnaces had been. During the 20th century, the city hit difficult times with many economic and sanitation problems throughout the area. Toward the latter half of the century the mayor at the time, Stephen R. Reed, the longest-serving mayor of the city, built and developed several museums, urban areas, and implemented many economic changes. During his mayorship, the city grew with businesses and sports teams moving to the area. Since Reed's time in office, the city of Harrisburg has continued to grow, with businesses and corporations travelling to the area to benefit from the redevelopment of the city. Corporate housing has also seen a rise in standards in the last few years and offers a great alternative accommodation for those in the area.

Harrisburg is home to an array of museums, art collections, and historic sites. The Pennsylvania Farm Show, the largest free indoor agriculture exhibition in the United States was first held in Harrisburg in 1917 and this continues to be hosted every January since. This means that business travel to the city doesn't have to be all about business, and instead, business travellers can take advantage of the many tourist attractions and events held in the city every year. Corporate housing is within close range to these fantastic attractions, so you can take full advantage whilst staying on business.

The city is linked by many transport options and is connected by the Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) which is situated in the southwest of the city. Buses and trains regularly serve the city and provide links to Philadelphia, Allentown, Scranton, and many more cities and towns in the area.
