All you need to know about Honolulu

Honolulu is a city in the United States of America. Regarded as one of the most remote cities in the world, it lies in the Pacific Ocean, and its nearest location is the Point Arena Lighthouse in California. It’s ranked highly for liveability and has a population of roughly 400,000.

Honolulu is a key business and trading centre, focused on military defence, development, research and manufacturing, home to numerous banks and high-rise buildings.

The city is divided into a number of boroughs, districts and neighbourhoods. Downtown Honolulu is its main commercial centre, while the Capitol District is its government hub. The city even has its own arts district, home to popular attractions like the Hawaii Theatre.

Popular excursions include snorkelling, sailing, hiking and helicopter tours. Many visit Honolulu for its exquisite beaches such as Waimea Bay Beach Park and Sunset Beach Park. Others pass the time with a heritage tour or sunset cruise.

It’s main airport, Honolulu International, lies three miles from the central business district, and is the principal hub for Hawaiian Airlines. Its public transport is a mixture of trains and buses. Bike sharing is also becoming increasingly popular.

Honolulu’s balance of commerce and exoticism make it an excellent city to visit as a business traveller, particularly if you’re staying in a serviced apartment.
