All you need to know about Anaheim

Anaheim is a city in California. Part of Orange County, it finds a home in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area and has a population of more than 330,000. It lies roughly 25 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and is bordered by the areas Fullerton, Placentia, Yorba Linda and Buena Park.  The city has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. As the 10th most densely populated city in California, draws business travellers from all over the world with its generous offering of commercial spaces and corporate housing.

Anaheim traces its origins back to the 19th century. The area was founded in 1857 by fifty Germany families and went on to be incorporated as a city in 1876. Anaheim was a largely agricultural city at this time and many of the people who lived there were carpenters, craftsman and mechanics. These early business travellers came to Anaheim with a mission to grow grapes and helped establish Anaheim as a hub for California’s wine industry.

Anaheim continued in this vein until the mid-20th century, when Disneyland arrived in the city. The theme park opened its doors in 1955 and was an instant hit, drawing visitors from all over the world. Corporate housing and serviced apartments soon followed to accommodate for all the new tourists. In the years that followed, Anaheim’s population grew rapidly and so too did its reputation as a business travel destination.

Today, tourism remains a big part of Anaheim’s economy. Disneyland alone is said to contribute some $4.7 billion each year to Southern California’s economy. Another important focal point for tourism is the Anaheim Convention Centre, which plays host to numerous national conferences and trade shows. Top companies based in Anaheim include Panasonic, Toyota Financial Services and Hewlett Packard. These companies have had a positive impact on Anaheim’s business travel reputation and have helped pushed up occupancy levels in the city’s serviced apartments and corporate housing.

Anaheim is served by various highways and freeways which offer reliable transportation to and from the city. It’s also linked by two major railroads: the BNSF Railway at the Union Pacific Railroad. Corporate housing in the area situates the guests in the area close to transport links. The numerous buses which pass through Anaheim are provided by a mixture of companies - the major ones being the Orange County Transportation Authority and the Los Angeles Metro.
