Situated on the east coast of Scotland, Kirkcaldy is a beautiful town that boasts captivating views of the sea. Held in Easter, the town is home to the longest street fair in Europe with over 200 rides and attractions. Kirkcaldy was the industrial hub of Fife, linen was the town’s main export up until the mid-1960s. There is a hospital, multiple supermarkets, and interestingly an ice arena, the home of Fife Flyers an ice hockey team. 10 miles north of Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy means ‘fort on the hard hill’. Nowadays it is seen as more of a scenic town, a destination that allows you to explore all the natural beauty that the Scottish coastline has to offer.  

Things to do in Kirkcaldy

There are a range of activities in Kirkcaldy, so you won’t be short of stuff to do on your business trip there. Visit the Kirkcaldy galleries which has a gift shop, café, and a local and family history room inside. Explore the town’s high street and check out some of Kirkcaldy’s best restaurants including Jock’s Grill house and the Duchess of Kirkcaldy. If the weather is nice take a trip to Ravenscraig Park and Beveridge Park, home to Boating Lake; two charming natural spaces. If you are not travelling with family, why not delve into Scottish culture further and go whiskey tasting at Krafty Fine Drinks. Adam Smith Theatre is in the centre of the town perfect if you fancy going to see a show.

Transport in Kirkcaldy

There is lots of bus routes and stops scattered across the town making it easy for anyone to get from side to other quickly and cost effectively. The 33 bus route takes you directly from Kirkcaldy bus station to Dunfermline. There are a few taxi companies in the town and a rank is on Hill Street just near the bus station. Kirkcaldy train station managed by ScotRail has trains which run on the Fife Circle Line and East Coast Main Line which takes you to Edinburgh Waverly, 26 miles to the northeast. Don’t forgot about walking and cycling, great options if you are simply exploring the town and the surrounding beach.
