Travel in Chester 

There are plenty of ways to travel in Chester so guests can get in and around the city with ease. The nearest airport to Chester is Liverpool John Lennon Airport, an hour and a half drive away. However, the majority of international flights will arrive at Manchester Airport which is a two-hour drive away. Chester station is just a 10-minute walk from the centre and there are regular rail services from Chester to Manchester, Liverpool, and London. When in the city, due to its size, travelling around on foot or by bike is a favoured mode of transportation but there are also regular buses to enjoy the neighbouring towns and taxis dotted around the city to take guests back to their serviced apartments in Chester. 

Shopping in Chester 

There is an abundance of places to shop near Chester corporate housing, and one of Chester’s most popular shopping areas is the Chester Rows, situated right in the centre of the city, which are half-timbered Tudor galleries which offer dual-level shopping /double-deck street built in the late 13th century. Near to the Rows is Chester Market, the home to several independent stalls, from butchers to books and vinyls. If you’re looking for high street brands, then Grosvenor Shopping Centre is the best place to visit.  

Things to do in Chester 

Chester is similar to most historic places, as it has a selection of landmarks and monuments around the city which are never far from our serviced apartments in Chester. Chester Cathedral opened in 1541 and features Gothic, Romanesque architecture. The Chester Roman Amphitheatre was the largest in Britain and used for both entertainment and military training. Founded in around 79 AD, it was once about to seat between 8,000 and 12,000 spectators. Despite the Amphitheatre now being a ruin, it is free for people to visit for a picnic or sit down and in the summer military re-enactments are held here. If guests are visiting during summer, then the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is a must visit; hosted in Grosvenor Park enjoy a summer filled with theatre performances.  


Eastgate Clock is a key landmark in Chester and argued to be one of the most pictured clocks in England after Big Ben. It was built above the gate on Eastgate Street to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.  

Chester Racecourse was established in 1539 and is the oldest racecourse still in operation in the world. 

Chester's Midsummer Watch is one of the oldest festivals in the UK which happens once a week on the weekend before Midsummer, hence the name! It is a parade from Watergate Street to the Town Hall
