All you need to know about Gdynia

Gdynia is both a city and a seaport in Poland. It lies on Gdansk Bay, and overlooks the Baltic Sea. It has a population of more than 246,000 and forms of part of the Metropolitan area, Tricity, together with Sopot, Gdansk and various other urban communities.

Originally a fishing village, Gydnia developed into a seaside resort town, and, nowadays, serves as a popular stopover for luxury passenger ships. The city is highly regarded for its infrastructure, safety and quality of life, and boasts a number of great tourist attractions such Orlowo Pier, Kosciuszki Square and the speciality museum Dar Pomorza.

The city has a total of six railway stations, which provide frequent trains in and the around the Tricity area. Gdynia’s main airport, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, is approximately 16 miles from the city centre, and is easily reached by car. Visitors also have a number of trams, buses and trolleybuses to choose from.
