All you need to know about Japan

Tokyo cityscape in Japan and the national flag
Country Facts - Japan

Japan is an island nation located in East Asia. It's built up of 6,852 individual islands, although the four largest islands account for 97% of the countries landmass. Japan has the third largest national economy in the world and generated $5.1 trillion in 2013.

Japan has a diversified economy, which is built around the importation of raw materials and the exportation of refined goods. This form of industry has primarily come around from the lack of raw materials within Japan. However, using this technique, Japan have managed to become one of the largest manufacturers of high tech and precision goods, including automotive, robotics and electronics. Japan is also home to 25 of the world’s top 100 largest manufacturers, including Nissan, Panasonic and Sony.

Tourism also plays a key role in Japan’s economy, with 10.4 million tourists having visited in 2013. Japan’s capital, Tokyo, has also been successfully chosen as the host for the 2020 Summer Olympics, which will significantly increase tourism and industry specific revenue throughout Japan. The capital is also one of the most visited cities in the world for business. This is unsurprising as the city is home to some of the world’s most prolific businesses, including the second largest stock exchange in the world, the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The serviced apartment industry is well established throughout Japan and offers a wide variety of options for business travellers. With spacious living areas, self-catering facilities and a range of on-site amenities, a serviced apartment offers the perfect accommodation option for long term stays.
