Huai’an is
a city located in the Jiangsu province of eastern China. Until 2001, the city
was formerly named Huaiyin. Huai’an is located nearby Yancheng and Nanjing, two
larger cities in the Jiangsu region. Although the city is relatively small by
Chinese standards, Huai’an is renowned for producing three of the most
significant people in Chinese history. Han Xin, a general who helped found the
Han Dynasty, Wu Cheng’en, a Ming Dynasty novelist and Zhou Enlai, a former
Communist leader all have roots in Huai’an.
