Hangzhou is capital of China’s Zhejiang Province. It’s
located in east China, on Hagzhou Bay, between Shanghai and Ningbo.
Officially a sub-provincial city, Hangzhou has long, rich
history dating back to the 600s, and is recongised as one of the Seven Ancient
Capitals of China. Much of its heritage is centred on the beautiful lake, West
Lake – now a UNESCO World Heritage Site – which boasts a wonderful array of
gardens, pagodas and temples.
Hangzhou offers many great sites worth seeing like Lingyin
Temple, the National Tea Museum and Shaoxing Opera – where you can catch some
fantastic performances.
The city has a developed transport system. Hangzhou East
Railway Station is the city’s main train station and connects to neighbouring
places like Ningbo, Shanghai and Nanjing. Buses are also widely available, and
come in many forms, from traditional trolleybuses to hybrid diesel electric
buses. Hangzhou’s main airport is Hangzhou Xiaoshan International.
