Gladstone is a city in Queensland, Australia. Part of the Gladstone Region, it lies 340 miles north of Brisbane and 62 miles south-east of Rockhampton. It straddles the rivers Calliope and Boyne, and is home to Queensland’s biggest multi-commodity shipping port.

Gladstone’s main industries are mining-related. The Port of Gladstone, Gladstone’s principal port, is a major coal exporting terminal, made up of various terminal facilities and wharves. Tourism is another important part of the city’s economy.

Predictably, many of Gladstone’s attractions are water-related. These include East Shores Water Park, Auckland Hill Lookout and Spinnaker Park - which overlooks a lake, and is popular for boating. If art is your thing, pay a visit to the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum, and, for a spot of shopping, visit the Gladstone Shopping Centre.

Gladstone’s transport links are a mixture of rail, sea and air. Gladstone station is key stop on the North Coast railway line, with various long-distance passenger trains running and from the city. The city’s main airport, Gladstone Airport, is situated just 3.7 miles from the city centre, and is served by numerous top airlines.
