Top three Christmas markets in London
19th December 2014

It’s that time of year again when Christmas markets are popping up across London, helping us to imagine we are cosying up in an Alpine lodge after a long day on the slopes.  If you’re swapping the ski lodge for a London serviced apartment this December, then the markets with their beer halls and craft stalls offer the perfect opportunity to embrace the Christmas season after a busy day at the office.

There are some big players when it comes to the Christmas market game in London, with Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland reigning supreme. We’ve rounded up our top picks of London’s more intimate Christmas markets, where you can browse the stalls and enjoy a mulled wine free from the shrill, festive screams of teenagers enjoying the Ice Mountain Coaster.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market

The Southbank Centre Christmas Market is new to London this year and has been modeled on the traditional, German markets. Unique, hand-crafted gifts are sold from wooden huts overlooking the Thames and festive treats are served up to keep you warm as you enjoy the view. The market is situated directly in front of the Tate Modern and just over the bridge from St. Pauls, so you could even squeeze in some sightseeing whilst you’re at it.

Rosler Apartments, Waterloo are so close to the Southbank Centre Christmas Market that you can almost smell the roasting chestnuts through your bedroom window.

Canary Wharf Christmas Market

If you’re working in Canary Wharf, it might be easier for you to pop by the Canary Wharf Christmas market in Montgomery Square. Nestled amongst the sky scrapers, the market offers gifts ranging from oil paintings to handmade wooden toys. If the family are visiting, the ice rink and Santa’s Grotto are perfect for children.

Looking for somewhere to stay in Canary Wharf? West India Quay Apartments are conveniently located for both work and play.

The Real Food Market

Let’s be honest, the best part about these Christmas markets, and Christmas in general, is the food. The Real Food Market in King’s Cross showcases the best of local produce and with a special Christmas food market running from 17th to the 23rd December it certainly beats battling your way round the supermarket this Christmas. Euston Apartments are just a ten minute walk from King’s Cross so you can pick up some festive treats to take back and cook up in your own kitchen.
