Environmental Policy
SilverDoor is committed to minimising its impact on the environment and ensuring that its operations are
sustainable and compliant with all relevant environmental laws and regulations within the geographies it
operates.
We aim to, where appropriate, exceed regulatory requirements and implement business best practice into our
operations and encourage aligned behaviour from our employees, clients and supply chain partners.
This policy outlines our approach to managing our environmental footprint and sets out our objectives for
improving our environmental performance and supporting our clients and supply chain partners in following a
similar path.
Scope:
This policy applies to SilverDoor and any employees who undertake activity for and on behalf of SilverDoor. It
applies to the services, technology, and products we procure, our direct operations and the services we provide
to our customers. SilverDoor operates within a suite of interdependent policies within the ISO 14001 standard,
which are implemented collectively to deliver the objectives of this policy.
In line with UK environmental legislation, SilverDoor commits to:
-
Compliance with Regulations.
Ensure full compliance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Waste Regulations, Air Quality
Standards, Water Supply Regulations, and any other applicable environmental laws and regulations.
-
Waste Management.
Minimise waste generation through efficient use of resources and ensure that any waste generated is
managed responsibly, in compliance with waste management regulations, with a focus on reducing, reusing,
and recycling.
-
Energy and Water Efficiency
Improve energy and water efficiency across our operations, aiming to reduce consumption where possible.
This includes using energy-efficient equipment, monitoring usage, and exploring renewable energy sources
where practical.
-
Pollution Prevention
Take proactive measures to prevent pollution by controlling emissions to air, water, and land in line
with UK environmental laws, such as the Clean Air Act and Water Resources Act.
-
Sustainable Sourcing and Resource
Promote the use of sustainable materials and suppliers in our operations. Ensure that materials, water,
and energy are used efficiently and that procurement practices consider environmental impacts. Provide
guidance and support to clients and partners to maximise the sustainable consumption of resources
associated with SilverDoor products and services.
-
Carbon Footprint Reduction
Monitor and report on our carbon emissions, setting annual targets for reduction in line with UK climate
change goals and in line with our verified, and publicly available, Science Based Target with the SBTi.
Explore ways to assist clients and suppliers in accessing data and information necessary to support
their own sustainability goals and objectives.
-
Training and Awareness
Provide training and raise awareness among employees about environmental issues, environmental
responsibilities, sustainable practices, and how they can contribute to the company’s environmental
goals.
-
Engagement with Supply Chain & Customers
Encourage suppliers, predominantly our property partners, to adopt the same environmental principles or
undertake environmentally responsible practices. Share resources, experience, learning, best practices
and tools which support clients and partners in achieving their own sustainability objectives.
-
Continuous Improvement
Through the maintenance of our Environmental Management System (EMS) we commit to review and update our
environmental performance by regularly setting measurable objectives and targets to drive continuous
improvement.
-
Environmental Reporting
Report annually on our environmental impact and the progress made toward our sustainability goals,
ensuring transparency in line with the UK’s mandatory reporting requirements. Voluntarily report on
ESG/CSR performance using recognised third-party reporting platforms CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and
EcoVadis. Reports are available for sharing with SilverDoor clients and interested stakeholders upon
demand.
Where SilverDoor operations fall outside of UK environmental legislation, we commit to abide by the equivalent
legislation of local geographies with the aim of working to consistently high standards.
Responsibilities
The Chief Supply Officer, supported by the Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager and other stakeholders, is
responsible for overseeing the implementation of this policy and ensuring compliance with UK environmental
regulations.
All employees are expected to contribute to the company’s environmental objectives and ensure they act in an
environmentally responsible manner.
Monitoring and review
To ensure the company maintains its awareness for continuous improvement, this policy, any interdependent
policies and processes, and the EMS is regularly reviewed by SilverDoor’s Senior Management Team to ensure it
remains appropriate and suitable to our business and remains relevant and compliant with current UK
environmental legislation and best practices, including local equivalents where appropriate. The EMS is subject
to both internal and external annual audits.
